The career of Verner Panton as a model began initially in the late 1950s. He re-empted Pop Art ideas with a set of furniture featuring simple geometrical shapes and yet explicitly embraced the beauty of Scandinavian Modernism with the base frames. The Cone Chairs and Heart Cone Chairs, originally built for a restaurant, are the best-known models from the Show. Verner Panton opted for a portion of a sphere for the first time with the C1 armchair created about the same time. The upholstered seat shell is remarkably comfortable on swivel bearings and slightly bent for both relaxed seating leaning back and upright seating. The C1 can be incorporated into private homes, hotels or reception areas, in larger groups it cuts a fine figure.
