Around 1950 Jean Prouvi designed many variants of the Compas table, based the concept on the structural concepts he is known for. The nesting cluster of eclipse tables was influenced by the organic forms found in nature. Eclipse consists of four tables of various shapes, varying sizes and heights. The smaller plates, much like a natural eclipse, can be hidden under the larger ones and completely vanish. The table types complement one another, and they can be combined to create free flowing variations that are private and ever-changing. A modern definition of conventional nesting tables is the eclipse tables. Eclipse’s essence is the organic nature of the table forms, as well as the many physical combinations that can be made.

Critically recognised designer and artist Jaime Hayon is recognised for his imaginative way to design “like an elephant-inspired chair that resembles the large physical shape of his muse’s museum. Looked out from behind, the swell of the two broad ears can easily be seen and emerged from the strong bulk of the chair’s body in a circular curve. There the resemblances don’t stop. The foundation “in metal or solid wood” resembles the creature’s four sturdy legs, whilst the shell is in a range of modern colours with the complete choice of material or leather cover. This evocative work’s influence goes beyond its physical appearance. Although the smooth Elefy’s form is obviously contemporary, the chair has been built comfortably. The cupping shape cosily encloses the sitter on all sides, rather than on blunt edges and an offensive shape. The chair has been built to foster a sense of well-being, just like the calm disposition of an elephant.

Precise proportions and a clear profile give a charm which allows it to stand-alone or in a group to look powerful. Designed for daily lives in a blend of elegance and energy, the Elementaire meets basic needs.
