    1965 Pendant

The 1965 Pendant was originally designed by Paavo Tynell in 1948. Like many of his best- known designs, the pendant was designed for the Finland House in New York – one of the most ambitious and successful projects of all time to showcase Finnish design.

Perfecting the techniques of metal finishes, Tynell developed the 1965 Pendant with his exceptional ability to capture and translate a

grace and exuberant lightness into his brass creations. Characterized by its triangular perforation pattern, an artistic detail utilised by Tynell in several of his lighting objects, the 1965 Pendant reflects the distinguished craftsmanship of the Finnish designer. With a frosted glass diffuser that softens the light, the pendant contributes to a subtle and tranquil environment.

    3D Lounge Chair Sledge Base

One of GUBI’s most innovative products, the GUBI Lounge Chair, is designed by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design. The GUBI Lounge Chair is an evolution of the GUBI Chair which was the first furniture design to be based on the innovative technique of moulding three-dimensional veneer. The 3D design gives the chair a comfortable seat and sense of lightness – with all edges pointing away from the user. Due to this ground breaking technology, the thickness of the veneer is allowed to be reduced to half than normally used. Today, the GUBI Chair design is exhibited at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and has won several prestigious design awards.

    5321 Table Lamp

Paavo Tynell’s fanciful take on nature is gracefully echoed in the 5321 Table Lamp, designed by the Finnish designer in 1941. Under the distinctive shell-inspired brass shade, the bulb subtly appears from beneath; a picturesque detail resembling the desirable sea shell pearl and making the 5321 Table Lamp a perfect example on how Tynell brought a playful nature and romance to the

simplified style of mid-century modernism. Blending timeless aesthetic with a unique sense of form, the 5321 Table Lamp adds an exquisite character to complement any modern space. Both decorative and functional, the lamp is a balance of elegance and curiosity, providing a design that is at once subtle and surprising.

    A1965 Pendant

Unveiled in 1948 at the Finland House in New York, the A1965 Pendant was an instant success for Paavo Tynell and one of the lighting fixtures considered to define his mid-century peak. It delicately holds some of his most distinctive design traits; the perforated and polished brass material combined with a unique lift mechanism, raising and lowering the lamp to different heights. The A1965 Pendant gracefully di uses the light down- wards through frosted glass, omitting glare whilst gently illuminating the room.

The hanging counterweighted A1965 Pendant was Tynell’s attempt to add lighting mobility to the ceiling fixture and comb- ing the advantages of the portable and the installed lamp. The impeccable construction of the A1965 Pendant fully reveals Paavo Tynell’s knack for elevating ordinary light fixtures into functional art and this remark- able style played a significant role in shaping the aesthetic of mid-century lighting.

    Adent Rectangulaire Wall Mirror

The Adnet Rectangulaire Mirror originates from the partnership of the designer Jaques Adnet and a famous French fashion house in 1950’s. Among them were the Adnet Rectangulaire leather mirror studded with burnished brass rivets on the edges, a characteristic detailing of Adnet’s work.

With its simplicity of design combined with the warmth of leather and finest detailing, the Adnet Rectangulaire Mirror in three sizes serves equally well in a hallway, bathroom and dressing room, either horizontal, vertical, mounted to the wall or spontaneously leaned against it. B-4 Table Lamp

The B-4 Table Lamp by Greta M. Grossman was designed in 1945 and bears her whimsical and powerful signature style. With playful angles and geometric elements, the table lamp is characterized by its colourful and movable visors allowing light to diffuse softly around any table it stands on. The lamp fits effortlessly into almost any environment, adding a dash of American modernism panache to the room.

The silhouette of the B-4 Table Lamp, with its stilt base and alternating colour panels, resembles some of Greta M. Grossman’s most iconic architecture more than any other design item from her career. Typically, her houses were perched high up on stilts with cantilevered decks and walls of glass to take in the magnificent hillside views of Southern California – and with a fanciful style the B-4 Table Lamp beautifully reflects her modernist design principles.

    Multi-Lite Floor Lamp

Louis Weisdorf’s contemporary and classic design philosophy is echoed in the new Multi- Lite Floor Lamp. With its timeless elegance, distinctive style and unique multi-functionality, the Multi-Lite Floor Lamp brings life and character to any interior space.

The Multi-Lite lamp design was created in 1972 by the Danish architect Louis Weis- dorf with the aim of reflecting his passion for diversity. Due to its unique design, the two opposing outside shades can individually be rotated and transformed into multiple combinations and encourage for personal installations and expressions whenever desired.  Always with Weisdorf’s design philosophy in mind, the light can be directed upwards, downwards or exude an asymmetric art light without exposing the light source.

Two cylindrical shapes lay the foundation of the lamp and a metal ring encompasses it and anchors the two quarter-spherical shades, which ultimately completes a picture of an iconic design with multiple purposes. The decorative Multi-Lite Floor Lamp is an evolution of the pendant design and perfectly suited for creating a festive ambient light in the domestic living room.

    Pacha Lounge Chair

Legendary French designer Pierre Paulin originally designed the Pacha Chair in 1975. Paulin designed the chair in harmony with the changing design style of its period, replacing the austerity of post-war design with a new, vigorous approach.

Paulin managed to give a real elegance to the rounded forms of the Pacha Chair by finding the perfect proportions, raising it lightly on its base and tracing in the foam and upholstery with stitching lines inclined inwards. Through pieces like the Pacha Chair, Pierre Paulin pioneered low-level living; a modern way of living and sitting on the floor, by getting rid of chair legs.

    Pedrera Coffee Table

Many architects and furniture designers of the Bauhaus era were intent on providing well-designed homes and impeccably manufactured furnishings for the “common man”. in 1955, Barba Corsini, a leading functionalist architect, realised his contemporary vision through his renovation of the loft space and the furnishings he custom designed for “La Pedrera”. Corsini was a great admirer of Finnish architecture, which he believed to be the finest in Europe on account of the powerful simplicity of the designs. ‘Powerful simplicity’ is indeed an apt description of Corsini’s personal design style, as represented by the Pedrera series. The Pedrera coffee table is both modern and classic.

Ronde is in several languages the word for round, circular or rotating but it is also the flat blank used for metal spinning technique, which is rotating around a mould core and shaped to a 3-dimensional body. The mainly downwards directed light from conventional pendant lamps does in this design also spread out of the spout-like opening and casts a smooth light gradient at the wire and ceiling. The hand-turned aluminium lamp shade with an ultra-matt lacquer almost makes it look as if it was made of ceramics.
