5 Tips On How To Choose The Correct Outdoor Furniture

If you’re looking to redo an outdoor living space this season, we have a few tips that will help you find comfortable, durable and stylish furniture for your home.
Coordinate your flow from indoors to outdoors
Create a flow from indoors to outdoors with your use of colours, textures and materials. A few ideas would be to carry through the same flooring, choose a similar colour palette, use the same materials for your furniture(with the outdoors being treated, of course) and lastly, we would have a clear opening without any obstructions from indoors to outdoors.
Measure your space
Buying furniture for your home can’t happen without having a proper strategy. Usually, we focus on the shape of a room and see which furniture pieces would fit best in a specific space, the same applies to your outdoor area.
Pick the right material for your patio furniture
Aluminium and polypropylene plastic is lightweight, rustproof and doesn’t need a lot of weather treating.
Powder-coated Steel can resist chemicals and corrosion a lot more than paint would however, it can only resist up to a certain threshold.
Rattan, wicker and natural grasses work well outdoors, they work even better when treated with a resin finish and only need to be treated every couple of years.
Wood works beautifully in outdoor furnishings. Wood does need a lot of love, though. It requires UV protection and regular treatment but oh is it worth it! Weather-resistant kinds of wood would be Teak, Cedar, Redwood and Cypress to name a few.
Maintain your outdoor furniture
See your furniture as an investment. Polypropylene furniture can be sprayed down every so often to be cared for, and other materials like rattan or wicker can be vacuumed and then cleaned with a bristle brush and warm water, after cleaning the furniture, wipe down with a fast-absorbing towel. Wooden furniture can be wiped down with a damp cloth and oiled with quality wood oil (Woodoc). Lastly, Aluminium or steel furniture can be cleaned by washing them down with soapy water every two weeks to maintain, depending on how much they are used.
Quality Is Key for Outdoor Furniture
When designing an outdoor area, it is important to focus on quality furniture items that would withstand the outdoor weather conditions. It would reduce maintenance and repairs, which in the long run would save you money.
