Ronde is in several languages the word for round, circular or rotating but it is also the flat blank used for metal spinning technique, which is rotating around a mould core and shaped to a 3-dimensional body. A unique detail is the opening on the top with an overhanging collar that reminds of a jar such as a vase or an amphora. The mainly downwards directed light from conventional pendant lamps does in this design also spread out of the spout-like opening and casts a smooth light gradient at the wire and ceiling. The hand-turned aluminium lamp shade with an ultra-matt lacquer almost makes it look as if it was made of ceramics.

Their design was submitted for a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture and won first prize.

Is it made with toy building blocks? Is it a character out of a comic? Or a small domestic robot? Duii surprises and amuses due to its personality, starting with its name, inspired by one of Donald Duck’s friendly nephews. The base also recalls a duck’s foot, but it can also be used as a convenient trinket tray. The articulated arm, held together by wing screws like bits of Meccano, supports a rounded body with a diffuser, a shape that in turn recalls a multitude of memories and inspirations: retro car headlights, a workman’s hard hat but also the Mohican style shaved head of the Diesel brand.

Like a volcanic rock that when it breaks apart reveals a jewel within, Rock is an interplay of surprises and contrasts. Mysterious and severe outside, diamond-bright and iridescent inside. Outside, the dark version is rough, whilst inside, it shimmers, smooth and mother of pearl-covered. The white version assumes a new personality to fit in with each different use, a precious stone that highlights in particular its asymmetric facets, evolved according to a casual logic. They reflect the light’s rays in the internal surface as in a crystal, producing a surprising and unforgettable effect. In the warm and bright gold finish, which is similar to a giant freshly-mined gold nugget, it accentuates the contrast between the rough rockiness of the external surface and the precious brightness within. Rock can focus its light band to function as a reading lamp as well as casting light upwards.

Resulting from the marriage between the centuries-old tradition of blown glass and the industrial appeal of metal, Metal Glass recalls an alchemist’s still or a lantern from a Gothic setting. It is distinguished by a dense and almost opaque transparency, which is achieved by pouring soda powder into the still-incandescent vitreous paste. The ensuing chemical reaction creates a myriad of bubbles which are transformed into luminous particles, when the lamp is on. The borosilicate glass cylinder inside spreads the light while being part of the design.

Designed by Bertjan Pot and introduced in the Moooi collection in 2002, the Random Light has become a best seller right from the beginning. It transmit a feeling of simplicity, softness , lightness and a touch of magic in contemporary style. The production process is a special story by itself: a resin drained yarn is randomly coiled around an inflatable beach ball creating a translucent 3D fabric. The beach ball is then deflated and extracted from a round opening in the lamp. At the end the skin becomes the product. Soft and magic.
The Fork lampshade is inspired by casual fashion, by campsite tents and by an informal, playful and dynamic lifestyle. The stitching on the fabric has been created like that on jeans and the rings are notmerely decorative, but respond to practical needs with simplicity and immediacy. The light inside reveals a patchwork structure and the texture of the canvas, a little like when you turn on a light inside a tent. The lampshade is extremely flexible and can be oriented 360¡. The stand of the floor and table versions is also very mobile, thanks to its joints: this means you can change the direction of the light as you please, play with the lamp and have fun continually finding new positions for it.

Instead of a solid block, the design of Nube allows us to see all of the back part of the armchair. So the shape with all the curves where we are going to sit is visible. Nube has a square upper view. Different armchairs can be combined turning between them. So the armchairs can be linked making straight lines or angles . Chairs can be linked with a simple metallic peice that screws to the lower part of the chair

GamFratesi’s design takes its creative drive from a fusion of tradition and renewal and in an experimental approach to their chosen materials and techniques. With their dual traditional background, Stine Gam (born 1975) and Enrico Fratesi (born 1978) draw on the classic Danish furniture and craft tradition as well as the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Understanding a tradition and addressing it actively in the workshop makes it possible to expand on it. From this cross-cultural substrate they create furniture that respectfully reflects tradition while also featuring unique embedded stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist idiom.

Like a small drop of incandescent glass, Glass drop appears to represent the magical and fleeting nature of this raw material, which is both fluid and solid at the same time, just before it takes shape in an ancient glass-blowing workshop. Its aluminium finishing on the contrary, is unmistakably contemporary, considering it is the high-tech material par excellence. A textured surface finish that interacts with light, changing colour and appearance according to its intensity. Aerial and precious, even when it is turned off, it can be used alone or in multiple horizontal compositions, suspended over a long table in a home or over the counter of a communal space, or vertically, at different rights, to decorate a large entrance, a stairwell or reception area. And it’s Foscarini again who delivers the technical solution allowing to make a vertical composition of up to 9 lamps: the multiple canopy joins function and design harmony, emphasising the scenic presence of a Glas drop cascade.

The hanging lamp Spokes was inspired by images of antique oriental lanterns and less exotic aviaries. The designers observed the spokes of a bicycle wheel and this is what gave the lamp its name. The result is soft shapes and a lightweight lamp which holds the light allowing it to filter out into the room. Transmitted is the impression of an object fresh off the assembly line and destined for a home environment unafraid to break with design and aesthetic conventions.

Flask is inspired by the sharp and functional geometry of chemical laboratory glassware. A cylinder, a sphere and a cone that work in mixed groups or more formal arrangements. Each comprises two components – a clear rippled glass lens which produces a series of concentric, luminous rings, and a black glass shade finished in the latest oily iridescent colour. Light refracting from the surface creates the lustrous effect of petrol on water or a dragonfly wing.
The familiar sphere gets squashed then stretched to create a new pair of complimentary forms in the trademark mirrored copper, allowing new clusters to be formed, lower ceilings to be illuminated or narrow corridors to be colonised by the Copper family. The Copper Shade is created by exploding a thin layer of pure metal onto the internal surface of a polycarbonate globe. The result is a highly reflective surface with a warm metallic glow. Can be hung in multiples using Pendant System or as a single pendant light, to create a focal point.

The Lattice collection springs from the organic imagination of the Bouroullec brothers. The basic pattern, rhythmically reproduced, gives rise to a harmonic succession of colours.Balance, proportion and irregularity are the key elements in the controlled disorder that transforms Lattice into a unique creation.ÏRugs are commonly designed as a surface on which a pattern is distributed. However in the case of Lattice, the pattern is defined as a constructive system to generate the form of the rug itself. The system of coloured bands, in which pattern, form and colour are linked in an intimate manner, creates a different scope. Ò Explain the Bouroullec.
The Tres Collection reflects nanimarquina’s passion for craftsmanship, specifically paying tribute to the ancient craft of weaving. With this collection, the desire is to reclaim the basics, to appreciate the beauty in details and respect tradition.Tres is a traditional Indian flat-weave Dhurrie rug. Its unique quality lies in the production of three independent parts in which different fibres predominate. The proportion and combination of wool, felt, and cotton generate changes in tone and irregularities in the weave, bringing the pattern to life. The collection is an exercise in honesty, showcasing the weaving structure almost in a pedagogically style, without fear of revealing the warp. The fringes also help to understand the construction process thus enhancing the differentiation between the three pieces that finally blend together invisibly.
